FAQs

1. Do you only work with businesses, or can individuals work with you too?

A: We offer tax advising, tax preparation, bookkeeping, and full-service accounting to both businesses and individuals. For individuals, we often support those with more complex tax situations—licensed real estate agents, self-employed professionals, investors, people getting out of a tax mess, and those looking to use taxes to build long-term wealth. For businesses, we specialize in helping entrepreneurs and small-to-medium sized businesses develop tax strategies that grow with the business as it evolves. In either case, we prioritize building long-term relationships over one-time transactions.

2. Can you help me if I am behind on my taxes?

A. Yes. We help individuals and businesses catch up on past filings, resolve IRS notices, and create systems to avoid falling behind in the future. Whether you’re a few months or several years behind on back taxes, we’ll help you get compliant and back on track.

3. What’s the difference between tax preparation and tax planning?

A: Tax preparation is about accurately filing your past year’s taxes with the IRS and state agencies. Tax planning looks ahead—helping you structure your income, expenses, and business entity in ways that reduce liability and increase long-term savings. At AMD, we do both. We prepare tax returns, but our real value is in proactive planning that minimizes surprises and maximizes opportunities.

4. Can you help me uncover commonly missed deductions and tax credits?

A. Yes! One of the biggest benefits of working with AMD is our proactive approach to identifying deductions and credits that many individuals and business owners overlook. From mileage and home office expenses to industry-specific write-offs and federal or state credits like the Child Tax Credit, our tax law experience allows us to dig deep into your financial picture to ensure nothing is missed.

5. Can you help with bookkeeping?

A: Absolutely. We provide monthly bookkeeping, payroll, and financial reporting in addition to proactive tax planning. By handling both tax advising and bookkeeping, we give business owners a complete picture of their finances, helping them stay compliant while also making better decisions throughout the year. If you’re behind on your books, we can also help you get caught up quickly and accurately.

6. Can you help me choose the right business entity?

A: Yes. Choosing the right business entity—LLC, S-Corp, Partnership, or Sole Proprietor—can significantly impact your tax liability and long-term success. We advise small business owners on entity structuring to ensure they’re set up in the most tax-efficient way possible, either when starting up or during restructuring.

7. Do you specialize in taxes for real estate agents?

A: Yes. Real estate agents are one of our primary client groups. We understand the realities of commission-based income, fluctuating cash flow, and complex deductions. We work with agents to build year-round strategies to stabilize cash flow, reduce surprises, and maximize efficiency—so agents in Wisconsin and across the U.S. keep more of what they earn. 8. Do you work with clients outside of Wisconsin?

A: Yes. While we’re based in Beloit, Wisconsin, we support clients nationwide through secure, virtual tax and accounting services. Remote doesn’t mean impersonal—you’ll still get personalized attention, proactive communication, and a financial strategy built around your goals.

9. What does it look like to start working with AMD?

A: We begin with a free consultation to understand your goals and review your current financial situation. From there, we recommend the right next steps - whether that’s comprehensive tax planning via our Tax Trifecta Analysis, custom payroll and bookkeeping packages, tax return preparation, or something else. Our onboarding process is simple, secure, and designed to get you clear answers and actionable strategies right away.
